Case
Study: Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra
For a relatively new organization, Disabled Sports
Eastern Sierra (DSES) had been very successful generating support
for its adaptive skiing program at Mammoth Mountain. But, in order
to expand programs, they knew they would need to expand fundraising
as well. Previous attempts to implement online tracking tools were
unsuccessful, and communications with existing donors were hit and
miss. Making this transition proved challenging with only 2 staff
members, and limited experience with managing this aspect of the
program.
Leveraging the aspects of the current approach that
made DSES successful so far, Resourciv initiated a strategy that
focused on improving the management of contact information for donors,
volunteers and program participants. First, all data was compiled
from several sources into one file. Then, Resourciv created an online
tool to manage all contact information in the future. The next step
was to create a companion tool to track donations.
With core transaction tools in place, Resourciv then
worked with DSES to develop a feasible communication plan and campaign
schedule. Style guides were developed to ensure consistent styles
could be applied to all communication materials in the future. A
plan also was developed to integrate the distribution of communications
with the DSES Website and the online database and improve the online
giving program. The comprehensive tool guides DSES through each
phase of each campaign from scheduling through donation receipts.
The end result is a comprehensive solution that facilitates
implementation of the communication plan and streamlines administration.
